Explore what it takes to succeed in the future of work in changing technological, geopolitical and economic landscapes
This Spark credential explores the technological megatrends – including AI, cyber systems, digitisation and automation – as well as economic and political shifts and sustainable development considerations that will impact the future of work.
This credential also explores into the growth mindset capacities, such as technological literacy and emotional intelligence, required for success in careers of the future.
It is one of three Spark credentials that can be completed together and used as credit towards a Curtin bachelor degree in innovation.
Earn credit towards your Curtin bachelor degree
When you complete this Spark credential together with Spark credentials in Innovation Fundamentals; and Innovation Strategies, you’ll earn 25 credit points towards the Introduction to Innovation Principles unit, normally studied in the first year of your degree.
This Spark credential is designed specifically for high school students who want to gain the skillsets for creating innovation and/or a future career in entrepreneurship.
By completing your Spark credential you will learn to:
- Explain key ideas about growth mindset, automation's effects on jobs, and show insights about how they relate to trends for the future of work.
- Communicate interesting findings on the benefits of a growth mindset, jobs at risk from automation, and emerging trends of job market, highlighting their value and real-world impact.
- Show knowledge of topics covered by creating an engaging multimedia presentation that explains ideas skilfully and critically, and is supported by evidence.
Assessment
To successfully complete this credential, you are required to pass a final assessment.
Senior Lecturer/School of Management and Marketing
Anton Klarin (PhD, UNSW) is an academic in Innovation and International Business and Bachelor of Innovation Course Lead at Curtin University. He conducts interdisciplinary innovation-related research, so far receiving several awards including Early Career Researcher of the Year, Top Cited and Highly Commended articles, and Most Current and Important Research. He was awarded several grants delivering demand-driven reports related to strategically important technologies for Australia.
Dean, Learning & Teaching/Faculty of Business and Law
As Dean Teaching and Learning for the Faculty of Business and Law at Curtin University and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (UK), Subra is an experienced higher education leader specialising in business, entrepreneurship and innovation education. Skilled in curriculum and program development (including study tours), course direction and academic research. Enjoys sport and being an engaged dad!
Senior Lecturer/School of Management and Marketing
Dr Ben Thomas has been a teaching and research academic based in Curtin’s Faculty of Business and Law since 2019. He teaches business strategy and start-up business planning within the Curtin MBA, undergraduate and postgraduate programs and is also the Lead Academic on Curtin’s start-up accelerator programs, Ignition and Accelerate. His research interests include wine industry innovation and wine tourism as well as building innovation and entrepreneurial capability within founders of early-stage ventures. Further, Ben has founder experience as a co-founder of Vine Collective, WA’s first solely online wine marketplace platform, and co-founder of the wine production company, Berserkr Wines.
